In October 2012 our local newspaper, The Palisadian Post, ran an article about a remarkable young man, Jimmy Carter, who together with a few friends from Pepperdine University, organized a fundraiser with the goal of raising enough money to purchase a bus for orphaned children who live in the slums of Kampala, West Uganda and have to walk over 8 miles a day to attend school.

Buyamba Uganda is a nonprofit ministry organized to support the over 700 orphaned and disadvantaged children surrounding Kampala, West Uganda.  Their mission is to provide for the physical care and needs of these children, along with empowering them through ongoing education and spiritual discipleship to become contributing citizens who will impact Uganda for Christ.  Support is funneled through the Buyamba Orphan Outreach in Uganda which operates God Cares Schools, with the hopes that through education these children will one day rise above their circumstances.  www.ugandabuyamba.com

In June 2013, students from Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, CA made a humanitarian trip to Uganda and took along 40 of our dollies and colorful teddy bears. Julie Dimas, Buyamba’s Director of Operations sent us this message:

Dear Cindy,

Everyone was so excited to receive these dolls in Uganda! I heard the kids were just beside themselves and swinging them around with laughter!
Thank you so much!!! These children were very blessed (as you can see by their big smiles).
The generosity of  the ladies in Dollies Making A Difference has touched our hearts!
Keep us in mind in the future if you find yourself still creating, we have 100’s of little ones!
We certainly will Julie !!!!
Enjoy these wonderful photos – and don’t you just love the little girl in the orange t-shirt?
Such confidence!
