Santa Monica pediatrician Dr. Bob Hamilton led a team of doctors and volunteers from Lighthouse Medical Mission (LMM) to Gambia in April.  The past few years they were prohibited to travel to the western African countries of Gambia, Sierra Leone or Burkina Faso due to health concerns surrounding the Zika virus outbreak, but this year they got the go-ahead.

Much to their delight, the team was warmly welcomed by the brand new President of Gambia, Adama Barrow who personally thanked Dr. Bob Hamilton for his efforts to promote health care improvements.

The next day the team enjoyed lunch with Wife #1 Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow who then volunteered at the LMM medical clinic. (photo below in the center is the President, Mrs. Bah-Barrow, and LMM founder Dr. Bob Hamilton)The President of Gambia has two wives!
