Students at Williams College take the month of January and focus on one specific area of interest.  During what is called Winter Study, they can choose to take one course from the eclectic curriculum, pursue collaborative or independent research, find an internship … or travel. For the past 15 years, 12 students from Williams College travel for a week throughout Nicaragua with a team of medical professionals affiliated with The New England College of Optometry, to be of service to families living in extremely remote areas. Along with conducting vision clinics, the students distributed eyeglasses AND Dollies and Teddy Bears!
