Dollie ladies Anne and Cindy had a very special experience when we were invited to join the nurses at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital in distributing our one-of-a-kind Valentines to their young patients the day before Valentines Day. Friend, neighbor, and hospital development director Becky Winding, paired us with the wonderful dogs from UCLA People-Animal Connection.  The surprise and delight on each child’s face upon receiving their very own Valentine, especially since it came from a loving and caring dog, was a sight to behold!  Amazing, touching, and meaningful…it was an experience we will treasure forever.
A second team of nurses brought our Valentines over to the adult patients at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center. Becky shared this with me, “If you had only seen the faces on the geriatric patients we visited in Santa Monica. There are no words to describe what joy those cards brought to them. The cutest, most charming 90 year old man wanted to pay for an extra card so he would have one to give to his wife and daughter today since he couldn’t get downstairs to the Gift Shop. He was in tears of appreciation because he said he had not forgotten to give his wife a card in 64 years of marriage and this was like a gift from heaven walking into his room.”
