Dollie Ambassador Bev Greenberg “Greenie” traveled again this summer to Ghana, West Africa.  Greenie is an elementary school teacher at The Francis W. Parker School, the only K-12 school in Chicago, IL (Lincoln Park).  In 1998 she was instrumental in establishing the Tuskegee International School in Accra, Ghana which operates as a “sister” school with The Parker School.  These two “sister” schools incorporate into their curriculum a fostering of global relations between children, helping them learn about each other’s diverse cultures, instilling compassion and understanding global responsibility, and touching lives, bridging distances, and building lasting friendships.  Caring Kids Connections is a 501c3 which ” currently funds the Tuskegee International School in Ghana with the help and support of children in Chicago.”
Greenie believes, “Every time a child from Chicago takes it upon themselves to think globally, it is one step closer to learning about another culture. Â It underscores how kids become connected with each other even though they are miles apart.”
During this visit, Greenie distributed dollies made by Dollies Making A Difference to kindergarteners and first graders at Tuskegee School who did not receive them during her previous visit in December 2013.  She writes in her travel blog, “Today, kindergarteners and first graders will be drawing pictures on small cards that will go to Dollies Making a Difference members who have graciously given dollies to the children of Tuskegee. The children who received the dollies today are new to the school and they were excited to get their dolls. The other children who received their dollies last December,  continue to care for their dollies in their home.” Â
The importance of saying “Thank You” is instilled in the children of The Parker School and The Tuskegee School. The drawings and notes from the children which we received last December were touching, beautiful, and very moving.  We Dollie Ladies cannot wait to receive our next package of Thank You notes in the mail!!!  Thank you Greenie for offering Dollies Making A Difference the opportunity to brighten a child’s day!
