Dollie Ambassador Emma Sczudlo traveled to Kabale, Uganda on a USC educational course to learn about the Ugandan healthcare system in rural areas. She and her classmates handed out Dollies and Teddy Bears at a healthcare outreach program hosted by Kigezi Healthcare Foundation (KIHEFO) and supported by Bridge to Health. KIHEFO is a Kabale-based non-governmental organization that provides healthcare education, maternal and family care, and general medicine to the community and “promotes local initiated solutions to fight disease, ignorance and poverty in southwestern Uganda. KIHEFO has long understood the importance of community-based work, always willing to make the trek into hard to reach communities on treacherous roads in unreliable vehicles.” Bridge to Health is a Canadian non-governmental organization that assists medically-underserved communities abroad through medical and dental brigades, local capacity building, and education/training of healthcare providers. Bridge to Health works regularly with KIHEFO, ensuring that they have the supplies, human resources, and educational tools required to improve community health.
