get-attachment.aspx I can’t even remember how we first came in touch with Bhakti Foster, a yoga instructor and Ayurveda wellness counselor who lives in Portland, Oregon.  It was through a friend of a friend of a friend… and so forth.  Bhakti was excited about her upcoming wedding which would be taking place in India, and she wanted Dollies Making A Difference to play a part in it!

Bhakti is a long time supporter of Families for Children India (FCC), “a non profit, non-sectarian organization that exists to fulfill the needs of children and young adults with physical and/or mental disabilities. By providing housing, education, special medical care and vocational training, FFC helps these individuals to reach their full potential and live with dignity in a loving environment. Located in Podanur Junction, near the city of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu State, in south India, FCC serves over 450 children. Their homes are comprised of 6 houses, and a large Special Care Center for children who are mentally and or physically handicapped. Excellent locally hired Special Educational teachers are employed to care for these children.”

Bhakti’s wedding took place in February.  She shared with us, “At our reception, we had some of the children come up to the stage to receive the dollies DMAD provided us with…then we handed teddy bears out to the children in the special care unit.  Our wedding festivities were all held right at the orphanage.  The kids LOVED the dollies and teddy bears!  What a gift.  Bless you.  The wedding was amazing and the kids brought so much joy to it.  They participated in several ways including live entertainment, dancing (some from their wheelchairs), and singing at our reception.”
